Between 1948 and 1960 Communist terrorists attempted a take over in Malaya this attempt was vigorously opposed by British and Commonwealth forces most of whom were National servicemen who were required to fight in the swamps and jungles of Malaya . Here from the Liverpool Echo from January 1953 is one story of a local soldier in the jungle.
